Snakewood is also known as Leopard Wood (origin French Guiana). Snakewood is commercially one of the most expensive woods in the world. It gets its name from the dark red to reddish brown "snakeskin" appearance of the Heartwood. It has irregular black-striped markings and dark spots like a Leopard. It is irregular grained but the texture is moderately fine. (Shown with gold and black veneers).
